While any c.1910's original Type 1 photo of Ty Cobb remains both historically significant and desirable, this particular photo has recently become celebrated in collecting circles. Last fall this very image was used to photo-match the bat Cobb is holding to an existing bat, ultimately sold elsewhere in the hobby for $1.6M at auction (bat shown for illustration purposes only an is not included with this listing). "The Georgia Peach" is pictured at Griffith Park in Washington, DC, just the hint of a smile crossing his lips while posing for a photographer. Photo has lost a portion of the upper-left corner and a handwritten identifier of Cobb appears along the bottom edge. Verso remains blank with black paper residue affixed to the top and bottom corners along the left side. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
