Maple Crispette was a Canadian sweet that was in need of, like any other brand, wider marketing.  In 1923 they issued a small set of 30 subjects with a tempting offer on back: free baseball equipment upon presentation of the 30 cards in the set. As one might imagine, they short printed one of the cards (Stengel) to stymie most kids from cashing in.  This card of "Herby" Pennock hails from the set and is offered in a SGC 1 holder. The grade is really an accumulation of several factors, yet the card looks quite presentable for the grade. Centering and (maple) staining on the front are obviously knackered and the back has seen better days but it's a tougher card of a Red Sox and Yankees legend and hall-of-famer to obtain.
