Gorgeous Old Judge proof of catcher Charlie Reynolds, who would play just one game with the Kansas City Cowboys of the American Association, and yet was identified as a member of the team on three different N172 poses. Reynolds would play just one season in the American Association, appearing in just 13 games, yet is forever immortalized in the most important baseball card set of the 19th Century. Taken at the Heyn photo studio in Omaha, the image is wonderful, boasting extremely strong contrast and excellent detail, to the point where one can make out individual rings on Reynolds' bat, laces on his shoes, and wrinkles in his uniform. The Heyn studio was responsible the images of Kansas City players in the N172 issue, photo proofs like this often provided to the subjects, or to the public for advertising purposes. VG+ condition.
