While this image of Red Sox great, Jimmy Collins is known to have been shot by Boston-area studio photographer Carl Horner c.1904, Pacific & Atlantic's service saw fit to reproduce the image for distribution in the 1920's. Remaining a vintage example, the presented 6.5" x 8.5" 1920's-era photograph has clearly been produced from a duplicate negative and displays several areas where editorial masking and grease pencil have been applied in preparation for publication. Several pinholes are present throughout, though constrained to within the large white borders. Verso displays several handwritten notations along with large Pacific & Atlantic credit stamping. Photo is fresh to the hobby and originates from the files of Photo File, Inc. where it has been stored for several decades until the time of this sale. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type 4 photo by PSA/DNA.
