Colorful Hall of Fame hurler, Jay Hannah "Dizzy" Dean loosens up in this 8" x 10" original photo from Chicago-based photographer, George Burke. Burke, easily one of the most collected of all baseball photographers, has captured Dean at a heroic low angle while tossing on the sidelines at Wrigley Field sometime between 1938-41. Behind Dean young fans watch enthusiastically from the stands, hoping to witness the smooth delivery that famously led to a 30-win season in 1934 and a World Series victory for the "Gashouse Gang" Cardinals. Photo presents exceptionally well overall with only a small crease in the upper-right corner. George Burke's personal credit stamping appears at center of verso with his typed identifiers for cataloging purposes at the top edge. A fresh-to-the-hobby example hailing from the personal collection of longtime Baltimore-area broadcaster, Ted Patterson. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
