One year removed from his rookie season, young Chicago White Sox third baseman, Buck Weaver poses with his future brother in-law, Sox pitcher Jim Scott and sports promoter Gene Doyle in this 8" x 10" Type 1 photo. While history has forever associated Weaver with seven other teammates, recognized as the "Black Sox" for conspiring with gamblers to throw the 1919 World Series, the record has shown Weaver merely knew of the plot but did not participate. Nevertheless, in 1921 Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis saw fit to ban 31-year-old Buck Weaver from organized baseball for life due to his involvement. While all memorabilia relating to Black Sox players remains highly sought after by collectors, material featuring Buck Weaver and Shoeless Joe hold special significance due to the tragic nature of their stories and their perceived unfair banishment.
