Outstanding 1890s studio cabinet featuring Heavyweight Champion John L. Sullivan. Heralding Sullivan as "Champion of the World," the photo pictures the subject shirtless, arms folded, menacing facial expression. Part of a series of similar cabinets that are among many of Sullivan cabinets issued by a host of manufacturers during the era, this is quite pleasing, with some wear to the mount (particularly at the corners), some light wrinkling in the photo area itself, and some visible foxing on the reverse. Some handwritten notations and ink transfer also grace the reverse.
