Often considered the rookie card of the Hall of Famer from New Jersey, the 1949 Leaf card of Doby is a scarce short print.  The short prints in this issue are desirable to begin with; the rookie card of a Hall of Famer and the first Black player in the American League are significantly more so.  With even but pronounced corner rounding and some mild surface wear, the image of Doby is set against a glowing yellow background.
