A well-remembered Dodger despite a middling pitching career with the Bums, Erv Palica was a swingman with control and injury issues that used to irk manager Charlie Dressen no end.  He served in the U.S. military in 1952 and never took the field but Topps created a wonderful portrait of him in the Brooklyn sunshine.  The specimen seen here, from the semi-high series, is somewhat well-handled, although the overall look is symmetrical and pleasing. The signature is a good one, in blue ballpoint.  Palica died quite young, in 1982.  An extremely tough card, with just 9 signed examples in the PSA/DNA population report.
