His name was Alpha Brazle and he was a St. Louis Cardinal from his entire career. An excellent swingman, the tall lefty was a key component of the 1946 World Series winning Redbirds squad. His 1952 Topps card is colorful, especially so on this example, which is centered to the right and up. He's garnered a PSA/DNA assessment of Authentic for his ink signature, typified by a stylized "z" (an omega as it were) that swoops down dramatically. Just eight examples of signed 1952 Brazle cards have been authenticated by PSA/DNA (this one is counted twice, as the original has not been removed from the pop report as of this writing), owing to his early passing at the age of 60 in 1973.
