Distributed in 1916 by the Ferguson Bakery of Roxbury MA the BF2 pennants were undersized felt pennants that featured a black and white photo of a popular player of the day. Each pennant measuring approximately six inches in length the unnumbered set comprised 97 subjects including many of the most popular players of the day.Gandil one of eight Chicago White Sox players indicted for throwing the 1919 World Series was permanently banned from baseball by Judge Landis in 1921. Known as the player responsible for recruiting other teammates to throw the series the light-hitting first baseman has a spot reserved among Black Sox collectors. Gandil had a number of cards issued during his 9 year major league career but possibly none as interesting as his BF2 blanket. This the only graded copy of a BF2 Gandil pennant received a grade of "Authentic" from SGC likely due to fraying at the top of the pennant. This is a common occurrence with this issue as more than half of the 46 BF2 pennants graded by SGC received an Authentic assessment and none have received a grade higher than VG (and only five at that). An interesting and uncommon card of a widely-collected player from a difficult-to-find issue.
