John Rutherford spent one season in the big leagues, with Brooklyn in 1952. It got him a berth in the 1952 Topps high number series, and he also made his way into their 1953 set. That is the extent of his contemporary cardboard appearances and makes for a tough and tempting target. This example features a nice dark blue, felt pen signature in the upper-right corner. The card has obvious surface wear but the confluence of 1952 Topps high numbers, Brooklyn Dodgers and one season in the majors is hard to beat.
