Perhaps no other image better illustrates just how enamored fans were with baseball during the beginning of the 20th century than this famous shot of a Hilltop Park crowd in 1908. With nowhere else to go in the stands, fans are practically right on top of the players as they overflow onto the field, looking to get as close as possible to their heroes mid-game. It's a stunning image that couldn't possibly be replicated today due to how much the game (and security) has evolved. A stunningly clear photo created directly from the original negative, the presented 8" x 10" example was developed sometime during the 1930's. Photo remains largely unsoiled aside from very light toning on verso which also displays two different Brown Brothers credit stamps. Encapsulated as a Type 2 photo by PSA/DNA.
