The E94 set hails from 1911, when George Close, a Cambridge Massachusetts confectioner contracted for a set of 30 Major League Players. Each subject was printed with seven background colors and there are eleven different back variations, with ten different overprints and a lone unsullied checklist back, as we see here. Poor Johnny Evers lost the top of his card somewhere along the way in a close encounter with some scissors yet as this is a colorful example of the green background variety. The look is bright and the full reverse text is there as well.
