Affectionately known as "The Yiddish Curver" for both the number-one pitch in his arsenal and his Jewish ancestry, a young Barney Pelty tosses in this incredible oversize cabinet photograph. Pelty is wearing a uniform style only worn by the St. Louis Browns during home contests in 1905. Affixed to a heavy brown mount, the photo itself measures approx. 10.5" x 13, with overall dimensions of approx. 14" x 17". Some unobtusive staining is evident at the top edge of this photo and heavy wear is present to corners of the mount which has helped preserve the attached photograph quite well. One of several pieces in this auction emenating directly from the estate of former St. Louis Browns pitcher, Barney Pelty where they have remained until the time of this sale.
