They called him "Knuckles" for his primary pitch but Ed Cicotte was the king of doctoring baseballs and his bad habits didn't end there, as he was named the point of contact in the Black Sox investigation and trial that consumed much of the nation in 1920, and killed off what was trending as a hall-of-fame worthy career. This SGC 4 T205 portrait portrays him in Red Sox, he was sold to the White Sox in the middle of a horrendous 1912 campaign and quickly re-found his form in Chicago.

His T205 here shows some signs of handling, typical for the issue. The reverse though, would seem like a poor cut was made but in actual fact it looks more like the centering was bad on the press sheet and the top of the border was excised.
