Highlanders first baseman Hal Chase leaps for a high ball in this original press photo from Paul Thompson. Shot at Hilltop Park in 1911, this is a rare early action shot of Chase and remains just slightly out of focus with light creasing along the top edge. Curiously, this particular example misidentifies Chase on verso with a pencil notation attributing the likeness to "Jack Bushelman, Bos Am," which is, of course incorrect. Otherwise, verso is clean with purple Paul Thompson stamping present. Photo is fresh to the hobby and originates from the archives of Photo File, Inc. where it has been stored for several decades until this offering. Measures 5" x 7".
