The American Caramel E90-1's are sometimes referred to as the T206 of caramel sets, and have been dubbed "The Kraken" in some quarters as collecting the 120 subjects found within presents challenges of all sorts, having confounded hobbyists for many decades. Ty Cobb is among the many Hall-of-Famers in the set, which was issued with stick of caramel that, as one might imagine, led to some pretty sticky early handling situations. This obverse of this example was spared some of the more direct results of that and presents with a bit of a funky cut, testament to the manual cutting operations employed at the time.  The SGC 2 grade seems apt given the circumstances documented on the front, noting the reverse graphics are all intact, albeit showing two smears of 110+ year old caramel no doubt left there by the original purchaser. Regardless, a strong, collector-grade specimen, one of the key cards to this challenging set.
