Inserted into packs of Diaz Cigarettes, the 1923-24 Tomas Gutierrez issue is the largest of the 1920s Cuban baseball issues, and also one of the most scarce and popular. As with many Cuban issues, they were intended to be pasted into an album, which was made available with the redemption of a complete set of cards - but the cards were not returned, which accounts for some of the scarcity of the issue. As is the case with most Cuban issues, the cards are typically found at the low end of the grading scale; this is a high-grade card for the issue, with just one higher-grade example assessed by SGC. An extremely attractive card of a very popular player, a member of the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame.
