Rare card of Cuban Hall of Famer Pelayo Chacon, a shortstop and manager in the Cuban Winter League as well as in the American Negro Leagues. Born in Havana, Chacon had a lengthy career in the Cuban Leagues, with records indicating he played between 1908 and 1931. He played his last games at age 42 for the Cuban House of David team and was elected to the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame in 1949.
The card itself appears strong, but with surface wear common to the issue. The reverse appears clean but with print lines that are likely ink transfer from being mounted in some sort of lined notebook. Regardless of the reverse, a rare card from a very desirable Cuban issue.
