1914 Promissory note signed by Charles Weeghman on behalf of the Chicago Federal League Baseball Club.  Weeghman was an entrepreneur who attempted to acquire the St. Louis Cardinals in 1911 and subsequently became a founder of the Federal League through his ownership of the Chicago Whales.  In 1914, Weeghman built the ballpark known today as Wrigley Field, though it was originally known as Weeghman Park.  Upon achieving a settlement between the Federal League and Major League Baseball, Weeghman acquired an interest in the Chicago Cubs, moving the team to Weeghman Park.  Over time, Weeghman sold his shares in the Cubs to William Wrigley Jr.

The note itself appears in GOOD condition with some flattened folds, surface abrasions and small punctures.  The signature, applied in fountain pen, appears strong.  Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
