The 1938 Goudey issue is among the more scarce of all the mainstream gum card issues, filled with mysteries that likely involve the company's purchase of the National Chicle company in 1937 along with ongoing company financial issues. The issue's 24 cards were repeated twice, the second series featuring various anecdotal cartoons surrounding the caricature of the player. This example of Jimmy Foxx's second series card has been graded VG-EX 4 by PSA, lightly toned with some pronounced corner softness. Otherwise, a desirable card, one of the keys to the issue.
