Crisp image of Kid Gleason, New Jersey native who would gain notoriety as the manager of the 1919 Chicago White Sox, his first season as a major league manager marred by the Black Sox scandal.  As a player, Gleason was both a pitcher and a second baseman, winning 38 games for the 1890 Phillies.  After moving to the Baltimore Orioles in 1895, however, manager Ned Hanlon moved him to second base, where he would bat .309 with a .366 OBP.  He finished his 22-year career with 1,946 hits and 138 wins.  A strong N172 with excellent contrast, graded VG 3 by SGC due to overall wear, most prevalent at the corners.
