Grouping of three stubs to the three games played at Cleveland Municipal Stadium in the 1948 World Series between the Cleveland Indians and Boston Braves. Collection includes the following: 1) Game 3 Stub: Cleveland 2-0 victory, both runs coming on a 3rd inning Larry Doby groundout and a 4th inning Jim Hegan single. Gene Bearden pitched a complete game shutout for Cleveland. The stub is heavily faded with significant wear, F-P condition. 2) Game 4 Stub: Cleveland 2-1 victory, with home runs by Marv Rickert for Boston and Larry Doby for Cleveland. Stub appears VG/EX but with some creasing and an irregular tear near the perforation, and some paper loss along the edges of the reverse that reduces the technical grade. 3) Game 5 Stub: Boston 11-5 victory, with Hall of Famers Warren Spahn and Bob Feller not pitching particularly well. For Boston, Bob Elliott hit two home runs and Bill Salkeld added one, while Dale Mitchell and Jim Hegan homered for Cleveland in the slugfest. Stub is in GOOD condition with some fading and surface wear. Three stubs total.
