Stoic portrait of shortstop Roger Thorpe Peckinpaugh with the Washington Senators c.1925. Peckinpaugh helped lead the Senators to back-to-back pennants in 1924 and 1925, besting the Giants to become World Series champions in 1924 and falling just short to the Pirates in the 1925 World Series. Peck batted a robust .417 in the 1924 Fall Classic but famously committed eight errors during the 1925 affair despite collecting 1925 AL MVP honors. Photo presents beautifully though there is a small label affixed to the bottom border and some chipping to the lower right corner. Two pieces of clear tape are affixed to the top border, with one repairing a very minor tear. Verso includes a Sport Pictorial paper label obscuring Wide World Photos stamping, and small areas of tape at bottom. Measures 7x10. Guaranteed Type 1.
