In 1961, Fleer produced the largest set of its four-year 1960s run, coming in at 220 cards.  The set was the last they would issue that included NFL players, as the first 132 cards featured players from that league, and cards 133-220 featured AFL players.  The set includes the rookie cards of Tom Flores, Don Maynard, Don Meredith and Jim Otto.

Presented here is a collector-grade grouping of cards, 29 short of a complete set, with all the key rookie cards included.  While the set was lovingly handled and would fall into a lower-grade category regardless, the primary flaw with these cards is that approximately 90 of them have been marked on the reverse, a young collector adding the player's uniform number in ink.  A condition breakdown of the set would be 1% EX/MT, 11% EX, 22% VG/EX, 14% VG, 3% G, and 49% F/P, all due to the aforementioned writing.  Eye appeal, obviously, is far greater than 50% F/P, despite the fact that most of the cards would fall into the VG or VG/EX category without the writing.

A breakdown of the set's keys is as follows: #6 Jones (EX), 9 Atkins (VG/EX), 12 Mitchell (EX/MT), 30 Unitas (VG), 32 Moore (EX), 33 Berry (VG/EX), 35 Parker (VG), 37 Marchetti (VG), 39 Donovan (F - writing), 41 Meredith (VG), 55 Bednarik (VG), 63 St. Clair (F), 67 Nomellini (EX), 84 Lane (VG/EX), 85 Lary (VG), 88 Starr (VG), 90 Hornung (VG/EX), 95 Kramer (F - writing), 96 Ringo (VG), 106 Richter (VG/EX), 118 Johnson (VG), 125 Stautner (F - writing), 127 McElhenny (G), 155 Kemp (EX), 166 Blanda (F - writing), 188 Flores (EX), 197 Otto (F - writing), 202 Robinson (F - writing), 215 Maynard (F - writing).  A fine collector-grade grouping of cards, just 29 short of the complete set.
