Exceptional sign featuring Yankees Hall of Famer Phil Rizzuto professionally matted and framed to a finished size of 26 1/2" x 17". Though the sign is clean and colorful featuring a black and white photo of the Yankees shorstop set against a light green background with black red and white typography it does exhibit obvious restoration in the form of inpainting on both the left and right edges. What is interesting is that Rizzuto placed his signature so carefully to the right of his image that at first we did not even realize that the piece was signed! The signature is guaranteed authentic likely signed in person by Rizzuto for his fellow broadcasting colleague Ted Patterson the consignor of the three Wheaties signs featured in this auction. Despite the frame preventing us from examining the edges and reverse of the piece the vivid color and attractive imagery make this one of the more interesting advertising pieces we have encountered.
