Attractive award/plaque given to players on the 1956 Indianapolis Indians of the American Association for their success in the playoffs and Junior World Series. The heavy wooden plaque measures approximately 10" x 15" and lists the names of each of the players on the team as well as key coaches and front office staff. The most notable name is of course that of Roger Maris (listed as "Rog Maris " who at 20 years old batted .293 with 19 home runs in his final season before being brought up to the Cleveland Indians in 1957. Other notable names on the plaque with eventual Major League service include Joe Altobelli Earl Averill Ted Beard Bud Daley Johnny Gray Billy Harrell Stu Locklin Russ Nixon Stan Pwloski Stan Pitula Larry Raines George Spencer Dick Tomanek and Bobby Young along with team president Donie Bush. The plaque appears in strong condition with a few stray scuffs on the engraved area and light chips to the wooden base. An outstanding display related to the 1956 Indianapolis Indians given to each of the players including a pre-rookie Roger Maris before he would begin his record-breaking major league career.
