The 1960 World Series was dominated by the Yankees who outscored the Pittsburgh Pirates by a whopping 55-27. The powerful Yankees hit 14 home runs to Pittsburgh's 5 and had a team ERA of 3.54 to Pittsburgh's 7.11. Hall of Fame pitcher Whitey Ford threw two complete game shutouts his 0.00 ERA partially a result of giving up only two walks in 18 innings. Mickey Mantle batted .400 with three home runs. His 11 RBI was not enough to lead the team; that distinction went to Bobby Richardson who had 12. Richardson won the Series MVP. Pittsburgh won the Series in 7 games. Known for his stellar defense Pittsburgh second baseman Bill Mazeroski came to the plate in the bottom of the 9th of a tie game and Mazeroski launched a 1-0 pitch into the left field seats to secure a 10-9 Pittsburgh win. It was the first walk-off home run to end a World Series another of the most famous home runs in World Series history. Presented here is a collector-grade example of a ticket stub from that final historic game. In VG condition the stub exhibits wrinkling throughout with mild surface wear toning. SOme small areas of paper loss and remnants exist on the reverse likely due to scrapbook removal. If you were at this game wouldn't you put the ticket in a scrapbook?
