NOTE: A scan of the LOA has now been uploaded to this lot listing. The collection of Ted Patterson includes quite a bit of material related to Hall of Famer Eddie Murray; in addition to several jerseys caps and bats there are quite literally hundreds of autographs on cards photos and other items. Murray played with Baltimore between 1977 and 1988 establishing him as one of the game's sumerstars during that time winning a Rookie of the Year and finishing in the top 10 in MVP voting 8 out of 9 seasons between 1978 and 1985. At the end of the 1988 season Murray was traded to the Dodgers and kept on producing playing another nine seasons with four teams before ending his playing career. This Rawlings size 46 jersey dates to 1985 a tremendous season for Murray that would see his sixth All-Star appearance and a .297 batting average with 31 home runs and a career-high 124 runs batted in. Murray would finish fifth in the MVP voting that season behind Don Mattingly George Brett Rickey Henderson and Wade Boggs. The jersey is fantastic clean and bright signed and inscribed by the Hall of Famer underneath the uniform number on the breast. Appropriately sized and tagged the jersey displays extraordinary well and has earned the grade of A10 by MEARS. An outstanding Hall of Fame jersey from a member of the 500 home run and 3000 hit clubs.
