The International League in 1916 consisted of the Baltimore Orioles Buffalo Bisons Montreal Royals Newark Indians Providence Grays Richmond Climbers Rochester Hustlers and Toronto Maple Leafs. Players from this league were immortalized on cardboard in 1912 with the beautiful C46 Imperial Tobacco set but by 1916 the Eastern League under the leadership of league president Ed Barrow changed its name to the "International League" and became the only professional league to outlaw players from the failed Federal League. Notable players from the 1916 International League included Hall of Fame pitcher Herb Pennock (Buffalo Bisons) first baseman Fred Tenney and Clown Prince of Baseball Al Schacht (Newark Indians) third baseman Art Devlin (Rochester Hustlers) pitcher Urb Shocker outfielder Red Murray and infielder Lena Blackburne (Toronto Maple Leafs) among many other future and former major leaguers. This well-preserved league pass entitled the bearer one William Murray admittance to all International League parks for the 1916 season. Judging from the condition of the piece Murray did not attend many ballgames as aside from one spider crease in the top right corner the surface wear is minimal edges are sharp and the rounded corners undamaged. Discoloration and mild staining consistent with the age of the piece is present on the reverse.
