Enormous heavy die-cut cardboard stand-up display of Hall of Famer Ted Williams. Measuring an astonishing 50" tall the display features absolutely no advertising message at all - except the Wilson tag on Williams' glove. Likely dating to the 1950s this is one of just two examples of this display that we have been able to find. The piece is split into two pieces at the fold at one time reinforced with tape on the reverse. The easel is intact still attached to the bottom section. The piece has undergone some professional restoration both feet having been repaired and reinforced on the reverse with a cardboard backing. Areas of careful inpainting are visible under close examination mostly within Wiliams' uniform and the top of his cap likely to recolor areas that had been subject to surface wear of paper loss. Mild edge chipping is evident in different areas (most notably the squatchee atop Williams' cap). An outstanding piece certainly rare the largest advertising piece featuring Williams that we have seen.
