Part of what makes the T210 Old Mill series so popular among prewar collectors is the issue's interesting choice of subjects and poses despite the lack of "known" players in the various series. Often featured in "tough guy" poses glaring at the camera or posed in otherwise humorous ways unknown players become hobby icons their T210 cards suddenly highly desirable commodities. Such is the case with this card of "Kelly " the young boy who served as mascot for the Goldsboro Giants. Kelly was also the name of the Giants' manager that year M.J. Kelly so it would not be entirely outside the realm of possibility that the young mascot was the son of the team's manager. Pictured in full uniform holding a bat as if in a batting stance the young Kelly strikes a "tough guy" pose similar to so many players in the T210 issue making it one of the most popular cards in a difficult set to complete - and proof positive that at its core baseball is a kid's game.
