Striking cabinet photo of an unidentified player taken by the Haines studio in Philipsburg PA. Though the photo exhibits wear and paper loss the image of the player itself is strong and clear as he poses as if crouched to field an incoming ground ball. The reverse exhibits some areas of paper loss that appear to be from the removal of some clear tape along with some light pencil writing. An exceptional document of late 19th Century baseball as it began to capture the imagination of the nation.
