The 1978 Boston Red Sox season was a heartbreaker as the team fell apart in the second half as the New York Yankees surged making up 14 1/2 games between July and the end of the season taking the AL East title from Boston in the famed "Bucky Dent game." Longtime Boston Red Sox player coach and fan favorite Johnny Pesky was one of manager Don Zimmer's coaches that season. Presented here is a Boston Red Sox road jersey worn by Pesky. McAuliffe size 42 jersey does exhibit signs of heavy use with some wear at the stitching and some general fading from use. The presentation is quite strong however. The jersey has been awarded a perfect grade of A10 by MEARS. An excellent jersey from a legendary "near miss" team playing out the Curse of the Bambino in 1978. Full LOA from MEARS.
