I have one to sell!
At first glance this clean postcard looks like a typical linen stadium postcard from the era in this case depicting a few players lined up in a ballpark environment the headline "Pitchers Practice at Cincinnati Ball Park" attempting to explain the strange presence of a player crouched behind what appears to be a bulls-eye target. A closer look however reveals the subject behind the target is unmistakeably Honus Wagner crouched low behind the target. We cannot imagine what kind of strange practice this could be nor how dangerous it is to sit behind a target in this way hoping that Wagner has a baseball glove on his left hand which is obscured in the image by the target. Remarkable detail can be seen in the image many of the printed advertisements in the distance are legible as are individual windowpanes in the factory in the distance. Yet it is the presence of Wagner in the foreground that makes the card so interesting and lends it its value. Pencil writing on the reverse also including some later-period writing that identifies Wagner as being in the image. Aside from the writing VG/EX condition an impressive and rarely-seen item.
