I have one to sell!
Small-size (5 1/4" x 6 1/2") cabinet photo of Tigers outfielder Jimmie Barrett in full Tigers uniform. Barrett played for ten seasons including 1901 through 1905 with Detroit an outstanding fielder and .300 hitter. In 1905 Barrett injured his knee and was replaced by a young centerfielder named Ty Cobb. Manager Bill Armour asked Barrett to teach Cobb the team's signs and as Cobb began to cement his place in center Barrett began to resent the young outfielder. By 1906 Barrett was sold to the Cincinnati Reds where he played in just five games. The knee injury never recovered fully and though he tried to latch onto the Boston Red Sox in 1907 and 1908 his numbers were simply weak. An excellent photo age-related wear is evident on the mount and some staining is visible on the photo itself. Glue stains are visible on the reverse from scrapbook mounting as is some paper loss from the subsequent removal. A small newspaper clipping about Barrett is attached at the upper-left of the reverse.
