An early print of the most popular and desirable of all large-format baseball photos this extraordinary panoramic photo pictures the participants in the 1924 World Series the Washington Senators and New York Giants flanking president Calvin Coolidge prior to the beginning of Game 7 of the Series on October 10 at Griffith Stadium. The President stands in the background behind the US flag opposing managers Bucky Harris and John McGraw on each side with Judge Landis and Clark Griffith behind them. The extremely sharp photo includes an amazing array of star power the four Hall of Famers above joined by the following (L-R): Washington Senators Goose Goslin (HOF) Paul Zahneiser Al Shacht (coach) Joe Judge Earl McNeely Ossie Bluege Mule Shirley Nick Altrock (coach) mascot Ralph Miller Alan Russell By Speece Tom Zachary Tommy Taylor Walter Johnson (HOF) Nemo Leibold Roger Peckinpaugh Muddy Ruel Sam Rice (HOF) and Joe Martina. The suited figures in the center are the field announcer umpire Bill Dinneen umpire Ernie Quigley (basketball HOF) umpire Tom Connolly (HOF) and umpire Bill Klem (HOF). New York Giants (L-R): mascot Hugh Jennings (HOF - coach) Hack Wilson (HOF) Heinie Groh Travis Jackson (HOF) three unidenttified Ross Youngs (HOF) Frankie Frisch (HOF) Bill Terry (HOF) Billy Southworth (HOF) unidentified Huge McQuillan Hank Goudy Mule Watson Claude Jonnard unidentified unidentified George Kelly (HOF) two unidentified Jack Bentley and Pancho Snyder. The ensuing game was one of the greatest ever played. Washington manager Bucky Harris chose to start right-hander Curly Ogden rather than the expected starter George Mogridge. This forced Giants manager John McGraw to start a predominantly right-handed lineup. Ogden faced just two batters before Harris brought in Mogridge who had been secretly warming up beneath the stands. The Senators pushed across a run in the 4th and the Giants answered with three funs in the 6th. Washington scored two more in the 8th inning as a Bucky Harris grounder bounced over Fred Lindstrom's glove scoring two runs. Harris then brought in Walter Johnson in the 9th inning and the game remained scoreless into the 12th. In the bottom of the inning Muddy Ruel launched a foul popup behind the plate and Giants catcher Hank Gowdy tripped over his mask dropping the b all. Ruel doubled on the next pitch and Earl McNeely drove him in with yet another grounder that bounced over Lindstrom's glove to win the game - and the Series - for Washington. The photo itself appears in remarkable condition professionally matted and framed to a finished size of 48" x 15 1/4". While the matting and framing prohibit us from examining the edges or reverse the photo quality is extraordinary sharp with incredible clarity. The upper left corner exhibits what appears to be a tear
