Important card from this rare and unusual 19th Century trade card issue part of a 15-card set featuring line illustrations of members of the 1887 Boston Beaneaters. The cards are found with either Number 7 or Diamond S Cigar advertising on the reverse the Number 7 brand being more common. The term "common " of course is relative as this is an extremely rare issue! The cards are significantly larger than other tobacco cards of the era measuring 2.25" x 4" and are quite desirable today. This example featuring Hall of Fame first baseman Dan Brouthers has been graded VG 3 by SGC due partially to corner rounding along with some slight discoloration at the edges. A fantastic card type from a rare and desirable 19th Century issue.
