I have one to sell!
The successful debut of Jackie Robinson with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947 represented a sea change for major league baseball and for civil rights but it also had devastating effects on the Negro Leagues as many teams lost their key players and slowly folded. The Newark Eagles owned by Hall of Famer Effa Manley played at Ruppert Stadium in Newark between 1936 and 1948 and featured many Hall of Famers and stars including Larry Doby Ray Dandridge Biz Mackey Willie Wells Leon Day and Monte Irvin. After the 1948 season the Eagles were sold and moved to Houston contracting into the Negro American League where they lasted until 1950. Presented here is a season pass to that final season of 1948. The paper pass appears in VG/EX condition with some visible surface abrasions but otherwise presents very strongly with very limited wear at the edges. An outstanding document of the end of one of New Jersey's great baseball institutions and the beginning of the end of segregated baseball.
