Pair of 1933 real photo postcards of Babe Ruth posing for a photo with "R. J. W." during Spring Training in St Petersburg. The postcard is a companion to a photo depicting Ruth with "Russell " the same person pictured in the postcards. Russell wears street clothes and a bowtie while Ruth towers over him in his Yankees workout uniform. Both postcards grade VG without accounting for the identifying writing on the reverse with one of the postcard photos tinted (Ruth's sweatshirt an unappealing shade of yellow but Russell looking very dapper). The Babe was the subject of many posed snapshots like this (we feature several such lots in this auction alone) but they never fail to delight given how affable and willing to indulge the requests of fans he was.
