I have one to sell!
In mid-1955 Tigers infielder Harvey Kuenn was on his way to a second consecutive outstanding year reprising his Rookie of the Year season with another 200-hit performance. Invited to his second of what would be ten career All-Star games Kuenn would appear on the roster but not actually get into the game as starting shortstop Chico Carrasquel played all nine innings for the American League. This didn't stop Kuenn from bringing his gear on the trip with him though including this Louisville Slugger model S5 bat. Showing very little evidence of use the bat is uncracked and in outstanding condition weighs in at 33.3 ounces and measures 34.75 inches and was certainly ordered by Kuenn. Once he did not appear in the game however he used the bat to collect the signatures of many teammates and others associated with the game - more than 20 signatures in all each in the same blue ink. Highlighted by signatures of Mickey Mantle and Ted Williams (side by side on the right barrel) the bat also includes signatures of Sherm Lollar Bob Turley Nelson Fox (HOF) Kuenn Frank Sullivan Tony Cuccinello Bob Avila Larry Doby (HOF) Jim Finegan Early Wynn (HOF) Jackie Jensen Steve Gromek Don Gutteridge Vic Power Chico Carrasquel Mickey Vernon Yogi Berra (HOF) Dick Donovan Al Kaline (HOF) Herb Score Billy Pierce Jim Wilson Don Mossi Whitey Ford (HOF) Tommie Ferguson Billy Hoeft Al Rosen and a few unidentifiable. "1955-All Star Game-Milwaukee" has been isncribed on the bat in ink underneath Kuenn's signature on the barrel brand. The bat has been assessed by both PSA/DNA (Authentic bat graded GU 5) and MEARS (grade 7 - a base grade of 5 with a +2 for the signatures). In gorgeous condition with all the signatures visible and clean. A tremendous document from the early part of an outstanding career a player's memento filled with some of the greatest American Leaguers of the era.
