Another seldom-seen M101-1 Sporting News supplement the "rookie" card of Hall of Famer Nap Lajoie in street clothes. This supplement was an incredible find by our consignor glued to a vintage frame along with three other M101-1s (two of which are included in this auction). The glass was broken creating quite a hazard and also creating the potential to further damage the supplements. We carefully removed the glass shards and then shipped the remaining frame and supplements to a professional paper conservator to have the supplements carefully separated from the wooden frame. The supplements had become stained with water over the years and so we had the stains cleaned once the piece was safely removed from the frame thus preserving a very rare piece. The supplement was then submitted to Beckett the only grading company with a holder large enough to accommodate this issue so that the restoration of the piece could be disclosed on the grading label. Regardless of any restoration the piece has been preserved a scarce example of Nap Lajoie's first card.
