Interesting grouping of five cardboard fans each with a baseball theme. In 1910 fans such as these were dual-use pieces: they were intended to be used to keep spectators cool during the game and were intended to advertise a local business. Some also contained scorecards to enable fans to score the game. Included are the following: 1) C. 1910 Team Captain's Fan: Outstanding fan measuring 14" from the top to the bottom of the handle. Includes images of 16 ballplayers including Hall of Famers Bobby Wallace Nap Lajoie Calvin Griffith Frank Chance Fred Clarke and Roger Bresnahan. In poor condition with considerable creasing and tears. 2) 1907 Female Ballplayer Fan: 8 1/2" cardboard fan featuring an image of a female ballplayer about to throw a pitch. The handle is broken (both pieces are included) and the cardboard fan is in FAIR condition with creasing and considerable edge wear. 3) F.A. Schneider Fan: 15" long fan depicting a cartoon illustration of kids playing a sandlot game. A scorecard is included at the lower portion of the fan. The upper-right corner has been torn off and the lower-right has been clipped off as well. 4) F.A. Schneider Female Catcher Fan: Attractive fan featuring the portrait of a young female catcher (behind catcher's mask) superimposed over the image of a baseball which is superimposed over the image of two crossed bats. The fan is in POOR condition with considerable wear creasing and tears an upper-right corner clip and water staining. 5) Cardboard Fan Featuring Young Ballplayer: Attractive cardboard fan with a cardboard handle in VG condition with some staining and age-related discoloration. Five outstanding fans excellent early ballpark giveaways.
