Exceptional complete 1951 Bowman set one of the most important sets of the postwar era containing the rookie cards of Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays as well as Whitey Ford. An attractive midgrade set most of the cards ungraded the primary condition flaws with the cards are related to handling; edge and corner wear are common throughout and while most corners are not what we would call rounded they do reduce the average grade of the set. Surface wear is also evident consistent with cards that have been well-loved over the years; the color is still there but the cards have certainly been handled. A condition breakdown is as follows: 10% EX or better; 25% VG/EX; 38% VG; 23% GOOD; 4% FAIR or lesser. Keys break down as follows: #1 Ford (PSA VG 3); #2 Berra (PSA VG-EX+ 3.5) #3 Roberts (VG/EX); #7 Hodges (F); #10 Schoendienst (G); #26 Rizzuto (VG); #30 Feller (F); #31 Campanella (G); #32 Snider (PSA VG-EX 4); #46 Kell (VG); #50 Mize (VG); #53 Lemon (G); #58 Slaughter (VG); #62 Boudreau (VG); #78 Wynn (VG/EX); #80 Reese (EX); #134 Spahn (VG/EX); #151 Doby (VG/EX); #165 Williams (PSA EX 5 MK); #181 Stengel (VG/EX); #186 Ashburn (VG); #198 Irvin (VG/EX); #232 Fox (PSA VG 3); #233 Durocher (G); #253 Mantle (PSA GOOD 2); #282 Frisch (G - MC); #290 Dickey (G); #295 Lopez (VG/EX); #305 Mays (PSA GOOD 2). A strong colorful collector-grade set containing the rookie cards of two of the most important players of the postwar era. 324 cards total.
