Gorgeous 1882 Harper's Weekly woodcut featuring the Providence Greys. A powerhouse of baseball's founding fathers the team included not just George Wright John Ward and Old Hoss Radbourn but well-known 19th Century ballplayers Art Whitney Jerry Denny Paul Hines and more. Managed by Harry Wright the team finished second in the National League behind Cap Anson's Chicago White Stockings. This wonderful woodcut is matted and framed to a finished size of 16 1/2" x 15" and features Thomas York Charles Riley Hines Joseph Start Denny Vincent Nava both Wrights Radbourn Bernard Gilligen John Farrell and Ward. Some minor age-related toning is visible around the edges but the image itself displays wonderfully. The framing prevents us from examining the edges or reverse but the presentation is tremendous.
