Dick Schaap was a legendary sportswriter author television journalist and broadcaster. He began his career in 1964 as a columnist with Newsweek eventually becoming editor of SPORT magazine. He was a correspondent with the NBC Nightly News and the Today Show ABC World News Tonight 20/20 was the host of Schaap One on One with ESPN Classic hosted the radio program The Sporting Life with Dick Schaap on ESPN Radio and wrote a number of best-selling sports books. During his career Schaap earned five Emmy awards the Associate Press’ Red Smith Award and was inducted into the Nassau County Sports Hall of Fame.
