I have one to sell!
Dick Schaap was a legendary sportswriter author television journalist and broadcaster. He began his career in 1964 as a columnist with Newsweek eventually becoming editor of SPORT magazine. He was a correspondent with the NBC Nightly News and the Today Show ABC World News Tonight 20/20 was the host of Schaap One on One with ESPN Classic hosted the radio program The Sporting Life with Dick Schaap on ESPN Radio and wrote a number of best-selling sports books. During his career Schaap earned five Emmy awards the Associate Press’ Red Smith Award and was inducted into the Nassau County Sports Hall of Fame. He passed away tragically in 2001 due to complications from hip replacement surgery. We have been fortunate enough to have received on consignment a grouping of documents photos awards manuscripts and scrapbooks that originated with Schaap’s estate. Enormous collection of Dick Schaap's radio and television transcripts each housed in three-ring binders hundreds of pages of transcripts from Schaap's television segments scripts for ESPN Radio ABC's 20/20 and more. The transcripts involve long-forgotten segments on long-forgotten issues facing the sports world as well as human interest stories and special sporting events. The scripts include handwritten notations in places and appear to have been saved for archival purposes. There is no telling what sort of interesting treasures are buried in these scripts. It should be noted that the scripts take up several boxes and are quite heavy. Winning bidders should expect shipping charges to be expensive and we will happily work with the winning bidder should he/she choose to pick up the winnings at our New Jersey offices to avoid extensive shipping costs.
