The "rare back" T206 craze is a well-known one with more and more collectors discovering the scarcity of difficult T206 backs as well as the individually tougher cards within each subset. Presented here is an example of Providence pitcher Jimmy Lavender with the scarce Carolina Brights reverse. According to T206Resource.com the Carolina Brights back is the 9th most scarce of the 37 different. The card graded FAIR 20 by SGC presents exceptionally well however two spots of paper loss on the upper left border reduce the grade considerably. Of course it"s not the front of this card that is important it"s the reverse and that is very strong - bright and clear with no paper loss or creases marring the beautiful Carolina Brights ad.Population DataSGC Population: 3 total graded 2 at this level 1 higherPSA Population: 3 total graded 1 at this level 2 higher *Please note that PSA just recently began to differentiate between T206 back variations in their population reports so it is entirely possible that other examples of this card may have been graded by PSA and classified in their pop reports as "unknown back."
