One of the more popular players of his era and one of the most widely-collected deadball era Hall of Famers today Nap Lajoie is a highlight of the T206 issue. With two different cards Lajoie is represented in both portrait and "with bat" poses the latter being the subject of this particular lot. Occasionally a card will receive a low grade for obvious reasons and yet despite being accurately graded the presentation is much stronger than one would expect from the assigned grade. Such is the case with this Lajoie which includes a spot of paper loss on the card front obscuring part of Nap"s bat. Additionally a series of small spider creases traverse the card underneath the paper loss. Despite this the paper loss appears in a very unobtrusive location on the card front far from Lajoie"s face and the creases are very light particularly from a distance (though they are heavy enough to pass through to the back of the card). A very attractive card with significant eye appeal.Population DataSGC Population: 25 total graded 1 at this level 4 higherPSA Population: 41 total graded 8 at this level 32 higher**Please note that PSA just recently began to differentiate between T206 back variations in their population reports so it is entirely possible that other examples of this card may have been graded by PSA and classified in their pop reports as "unknown back."
